Think of the last time you slept somewhere that had nothing to do with a city. Now let the road do the work. The highway drops away, the car crawls up a mound of golden sand, and the last stretch is made by jeep, because the terrain does not care how tired you are. Your luggage rides behind you. Then the domes appear, pale and curved, resting among scrub and rock as if they had grown there. The air smells of dry grass. Somewhere a peacock calls. You exhale.

OVERVIEW: –

Teela is a luxury glamping resort at Achrol, on the Jaipur-Delhi Highway, about an hour’s drive from the airport and a little more from the heart of Jaipur. It sits on 20 acres of family land in the Aravalli foothills, a mound of sand that founder Garvita Mamodiya turned into a handful of beautifully engineered stays. The team felled no trees to build it and kept heavy machinery to a minimum, and the grounds are home to more than 200 species of birds and animals.

You sleep in geodesic Moon Domes with a transparent front, or in a Luna Airstream, a silver capsule on steel stilts with its own wooden deck. Every stay comes with a butler, and the days are built around an unhurried list of experiences, from ATV trails to film screenings on the helipad. This is a place for slowing down, and it is not a place for ticking off monuments.

Is Teela the right stay for you?

Be honest about the kind of trip you want, and you will love this place or know to look elsewhere.

Choose it if you

  • Want a romantic or family escape within easy reach of Jaipur
  • Love stargazing, quiet and the outdoors
  • Are planning an intimate celebration, such as a proposal, anniversary or small party
Look elsewhere if you

  • Are planning a wedding or a large event
  • Need a swimming pool or a gym
  • Want to walk to the Pink City’s palaces and bazaars

KEY FEATURES:

  • Moon Domes. Geodesic white domes with a transparent front and a view of the Aravallis. Warm in winter, air-conditioned in summer.
  • Luna Airstreams. Retro silver capsules on steel stilts, each with a private jacuzzi and a hammock on the deck.
  • A butler for every stay. From jeep transfers to private dinners, someone is always a message away.
  • Taaro, the spa tent. A small spa tent named for the Hindi word for stars.
  • The Rait restaurant. A glass-enclosed dining room serving Indian and European dishes made from produce grown near Achrol village.
  • 22 curated experiences. ATV rides, trekking, paintball, birdwatching, horse riding and more.
  • Nightly film screenings. Private screenings under the stars, on the resort’s helipad.
  • Intimate celebrations only. With a small number of keys and a remote, rocky site, Teela suits proposals, anniversaries and small gatherings. It is not a wedding venue.

FACILITIES: –

Rooms (No. of Rooms: 10)

Teela is small on purpose, with around ten keys spread across the grounds. Inside every stay you will find a kitchenette, a dressing area, a lounge corner, a tea chest and Barefoot Luxury toiletries, with heating in winter and air-conditioning in summer. Ask yourself, as you read, which of these you would wake up in.

Moon Dome King bed- A spherical geodesic dome with a transparent front, a king bed, a window lounging spot, and a separate bathroom. Choose it for waking to the hills. (47 sq m about 510 sq ft)

Studio Tent Patio and hammock- A modern tent with a wooden patio and a rocking hammock that looks out over the resort. Choose it when you want more space to spread out. Sleeping capacity: confirm with resort (73 sq m, about 790 sq ft)

Luna Airstream Private jacuzzi- A silver, retro-style capsule lifted on stilts, opening onto a natural wood deck with a private jacuzzi and a hammock. Choose it for a honeymoon or a milestone night. (88 sq m about 950 sq ft)

Spa

You should know before you book that Teela does not have a swimming pool. What it offers is smaller and quieter. Taaro, the resort’s spa tent, is a petite, quiet retreat where you can end a day of dust and trails while the sun slides behind the hills. Treatments and prices: confirm with the resort. And if you book a Luna Airstream, a private jacuzzi on your own deck gives you a soak with a view of the stars.

EXPLORE:

The resort has curated 22 experiences, and these are the ones to try first:

  • ATV and Polaris rides. Circuit the sandy trails, then let the butler arrange a jeep back to your room.
  • Sunrise trek. Walk the Aravalli trails before the heat, ending with breakfast by a small lake.
  • Stargazing. Lie back in a hammock or a jacuzzi and let the sky do the rest.
  • Movie nights. A private film screening under the open sky, on the helipad, every evening.
  • Paintball. A friendly match in the sand, good for families and groups.
  • Birdwatching and nature walks. Look for some of the 200-plus species recorded on the grounds.
  • Horse riding. A gentle ride across the property.
  • Jungle Rasoi. Learn to make rotis with local cooks in the forest, then eat on low woven beds.

FOOD & DRINKS: –

Meals at Teela are taken on the property, and most are planned ahead with your butler. Menus lean on produce from the village of Achrol, so what you eat tastes of where you are.

Restaurant · Indian and EuropeanTHE RAIT:

A concrete-and-glass dining room with wide windows and a cabin-like feel, set against the desert and the hills. The menu mixes Indian and European influences and is known for its Rajasthani thalis. Meals are pre-ordered, so tell your butler what you would like at least 30 minutes ahead.

Must-try dish: The Rajasthani thali, made with local produce. For something different, ask about the seven-course dinner.
Must-try drink: Sunset high tea, a ritual of tea and bites as the light turns gold.

Barbecue Under the Stars

Live grilling, low seating and lanterns in the open air. Order it for a private evening, and let the sky be your ceiling. A private canopy dinner for two, candlelit, with a curated menu.

Note: There is no bar at Teela, so ask your butler about drinks when you book. Check-in is at 2 pm and check-out at 12 noon. Network coverage can be patchy, which most guests come to enjoy.

LOCATION: –

Teela is at NH 11C, Jaipur-Delhi Highway, Achrol, Jaipur 303002, at the edge of the Aravalli hills. Take a taxi or drive to the property gate. From there, an ATV or jeep carries you and your luggage over the rocky, sandy terrain to your dome, so wear comfortable shoes.

  • By Air- Jaipur International Airport is about 40 km away, roughly an hour by road. Book a cab in advance, or ask the resort about a transfer.
  • By Rail- Jaipur Junction is the nearest major station, about an hour to an hour and a half by road from Achrol, depending on traffic. Take a taxi from the station straight to the gate.
  • By Road- Teela lies off the Jaipur-Delhi Highway, so it is an easy drive from Jaipur and a straightforward detour for anyone travelling between Delhi and Jaipur. Keep your navigation open for the last stretch.

On your last morning, take your tea out onto the deck before anyone else is awake. The hills are pale blue, a peacock walks the ridge, and the only sound is wind in the dry grass. You will find yourself wondering how long you can pretend you have no flight to catch.

Which would you choose, the Moon Dome or the Luna Airstream? Tell us in the comments, and share this guide with the person you would bring along.
