Once a barren land, RAAS Chhatra Sagar is now home to vast vegetation & exquisite birdlife after Chhatra Dam was built. The luxurious tents are built on this dam, amidst dessert. These tents portray the lifestyle of Rajputs. Far away from the city lights, this is one of the best getaways to unwind & rejuvenate.


OVERVIEW:

Built on a dam, with a monsoon reservoir as its front yard, Chhatra Sagar is located in the heart of rural Rajasthan. The 100-year-old dam gives the hotel a perfect base for the guests to absorb the far-fetching scenic beauty & the hypnotic sounds of thousands of birds singing at their own rhythm.

Note- Closed from 1st April to 30th September

Best Time to Visit: The Lake dries by late March or even earlier (if there is no monsoon) and you might not be able to see birdlife. The best time to visit the place is from October to early April.

FACILITIES:
ROOMS (No. of Tents- 16):

Out of 13 tents, 11 are on the dam in close proximity with a hypnotic view of the lake in front with thousands of migratory birds. The other two tents are located on the hill top with more privacy, well-suited for honeymooners. These 2 tents have a panoramic view of the entire region. The tents themselves are nothing less than a piece of local art with hand stitched canvas, hand painted floor, and locally crafted furniture. The tents also come with all amenities like modern en-suite bathroom with hot & cold running water, shower, bathrobes, a separate sitting area, Wi-Fi, and a lounging area in front with easy chairs. Though these tents are not air-conditioned, you probably won’t miss it during the time period this resort remains open.

  • Go on a guided bird watching tour to get a close look at over 200 species of birds found in the area.

  • Practice yoga & meditation on terrace for the quite ambiance is well suited.
  • Take jeep excursion to the local area to enjoy the scenic beauty.

  • If you aren’t feeling sleepy, indulge in stargazing in this utmost tranquil & clear surrounding.

BARADARI RESTAURANT:

Dinner is generally served in open-sided tents or in alfresco on the terrace with a campfire. The food served is of typical local taste prepared with the traditional family recipe flavored with Fenugreek & chillies grown organically in the region. The regular serving is from a 3-course fixed menu with a vegetable soup, delicious curry, chappatis, rice & raita. You can loosen up with your drinks gazing at the lake & vast wildlife or enjoy the sundowners that are served on the hilltop with the majestic view of the sunset & the vast planes.

Specialty- Lotus seeds with cardamom & rosewater and rose petal pudding.

LOCATION:

  • By Air – Jodhpur & Udaipur are the nearest domestic airports at 108 km & 256 km, respectively, with frequent flights on major national routes. Jaipur (236 km) is the closest options for international flights. You can travel either by rail or road to reach Pali. Contact hotel for pick & drop facility or hire a taxi.
  • By Rail – Ajmer is the nearest major railway station at 95 km, with good connectivity to all major cities like Jaipur, Ahmadabad, Jodhpur, Udaipur, etc. Take a taxi from there or use the pick & drop service provided by the hotel on request.
  • By Road – The place is located quite interior between NH 65A & NH 162 that makes it unreachable directly by regular buses. You can, however, take a bus to Pali from all major cities like Jaipur, Jodhpur, Delhi, etc. Use the pickup& drop service of the hotel or hire a taxi to reach your destination.
