In order to promote tourism in Rajasthan, the Indian Railways launched the Palace on Wheels (a luxury tourist train) in association with RTDC (Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation). Initially, it started on January 26, 1982, and was relaunched with a new decor, cuisine and itinerary in August 2009.
Raj Mandir Cinema was opened in 1976 and was designed by W.M. Namjoshi. The first movie that was showcased in this meringue-shaped auditorium was “Charas”. It is situated near M.I. Road, on the Bhagwan Das Road.
This art auditorium is famous for its multiple exibitions of varoius art fests. It can be considered as the center of local art and cultures with its continious showcase of various folk performances.
