“The Laxmi Niwas Palace is the most perfect modern building in the Indo-Saracenic style in India” – this is what King George V & Queen Mary said about their stay in this royal residence carved in red sandstone. The architecture, settings, interiors, and hospitality- every aspect of this palace is as close to royalty as it used to be centuries ago. Sprawling green lawns and artistic work will leave you spellbound.


OVERVIEW: –

The grand red sandstone structure with lush lawns is sure to leave you perplexed at the first look itself. As you walk in through the door, passing through carved archways & beautiful paintings adorning the walls, you will realize that you are indeed walking through history itself. Though Laxmi Niwas focuses mainly on royalty & exclusivity, it is also well equipped with all the modern amenities to provide comfort to its guests. Located in proximity to the city, the hotel provides easy accessibility to major attractions in the region like Junagarh Fort (2.8 km), Karni Mata Temple (2.2 km), Jain Temple (2.2 km), and Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary (37.71 km).

KEY FEATURES:

  • The porch (entranceway) is carved from 46 tons of sandstone and is adorned with creepers, orchids, vines, and flowering fruit trees.

ROOMS (No. of Rooms- 60):

All the rooms are equipped with modern amenities that wouldn’t let the travelers to miss their homes. What sets them apart are- the size, decor, and the fascinating history behind each of them.

  • ROYAL DELUXE ROOMS – These spacious rooms have a pleasing panoramic view of the Lalgarh Estate while the interiors have been carefully preserved to give a glimpse of grandeur to the guests. Two royal deluxe rooms with inter-connecting hallway are well suited for a small get-together, be it for business or pleasure.
  • PALACE ROOMS – Once the residence of Bikaner’s royal family members, these luxurious rooms are adorned with the century old furniture. They feature escritoires, air-conditioner, a large television, sunken bathtubs, porthole-shaped shaving mirrors, antique dressing tables, and four-poster brass beds. All the rooms overlook lush green lawns.
  • HISTORICAL SUITES – Once the bed-chamber of the prince, this suite has been left virtually unchanged for over a century. Be it teak ceiling with golden carving, separate spacious dressing room, or the enormous en-suite bathroom, everything is intact. The vertical walls have scenes of the royal hunt (shikar).
  • ROYAL SUITES –
  • Ganga Mahal is adorned with twin images of Surya (the Sun God), Burma teak ceiling, four-poster brass bed, gramophone, and cozy heirloom swing.
  • The Presidential Suite comes with dressing room, bathroom, sofa, a dining table, a four-poster bed, a writing desk, a TV armoire, pouffes and ottomans, and a pair of bronze horses. A metal door fastener adds to the magnificence of the room.
  • Facing towards the Lalgarh Palace, the Bridal Suite is away from the scurry of the ground floor and features old-world furniture, usta art on marble and glass-work, bolstered seating on alcoves, covered marble verandah, and a generously sized bathroom. The spacious area is best for bridal parties.

SPA:

The certified massage therapists offer a host of therapeutic spa treatments including Hot Stone Therapy, Bamboo Reed massage, and Swedish deep tissue treatment.

BOOKSHOP:

The in-house bookshop and souvenir store have a rich collection of handcrafted items, antiques, coffee table tomes, embroidered slips and purses, leather goods, and much more.

RAJAT MAHAL (Reading Room):

Former smoking room with teak ceiling, marble fireplace, & elegant interiors having used up 18 kg of gold, is a quiet place to put on the reading glasses.

THE BILLIARDS ROOM:

Surrounded by 14 magnificently sized tigers mounted on the walls, the billiards room has arrangements for carom and board games.

EXPLORE:

  • Get yourself portrayed by Ram Singh, one of the security guards of the palace. He does group portraits too and can also work from photographs.
  • Admire the beauty of the porch, made out of 46 tons of sandstone, and capture it in your camera.
  • Spend some time in the clear water of the swimming pool. If you are not interested in swimming, sit on the deck chairs and bathe in the sun or read your favorite book.
  • Take rejuvenating massage from the certified massage therapists.
  • Sip cocktails with new drinking buddies.
  • Indulge in indoor and outdoor games (carom, board games, table tennis, etc.).
  • Take out some time and read books in the serene ambiance of the Reading Room.
  • Go for sightseeing at ‘Junagarh-Fort’, a 10 min walk, with seven pols or gates, numerous palaces, pavilions and temples.
  • The Karni Mata temple in Deshnoke, 30 kms south, has the largest number of rats you’ve ever encountered, all partaking in a very orderly way of the evening Prasad.
  • Shop for purses, leather goods and other keepsakes at affordable prices from the Bookshop.
  • Go for shopping as the region offers varieties of snacks( dalmoth, namkeens) & Leather bags, sandals and the ubiquitous wooden kata.
  • Visit National Camel Research Centre, a must do day trip, to know more about the Sheep of Dessert. Also, enjoy ice cream made of camel milk there.
  • Show the Love for the Ship of the Desert, by attending The Annual Bikaner Camel Festival, occurring in January. This would be the place to rate and gauge everything about the animals, including their haircuts. Sit on the back of a camel and take long rides on the dunes.
  • Hum and dance along in the evening performances from fire dances, to traditional Indian ghazals, kalbelian performers, jugglers and acrobats, to troupes of folk singers, enlivening in the courtyard.
  • Know about your future from ‘Munna Maharaj’ (a renowned astrologer of Bikaner). 


FOOD & DRINKS: –

SWARNA MAHAL & HARI MAHAL (Restaurant):

‘Swarna-Mahal’ has mesmerizing interiors with Burma teak-paneled roof, a continuous frieze on the walls, and a hand-painted panel of stone. Though the restaurant offers multiple cuisines including Indian, Thai, Continental, etc., the chefs are always eager to prepare dishes that are not on the menu (on your demand).

Must Try Dish- Mutton cooked in Gul-mohar flowers and Lal-Maas.

With a Messel Green decorative motif and huge ceilings, ‘Hari-Mahal’ is a big dining room for private functions.

TROPHY (Bar):

Decorated with spoils of royal hunts, a Nepalese bison, and rhinoceros heads, the bar offers a wide range of drinks.

LOCATION: –

  • By Air – NAL Airport is the nearest domestic airport at 13 kms, while Jaipur (348 kms) is the closest options for international flights. Contact hotel for airport transfer service.
  • By Rail – Bikaner Junction is the nearest railway station at 3.5 kms, with well connectivity with all major cities like Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Jodhpur, etc. Take a taxi from there or use the pick & drop service provided by the hotel.
  • By Road – Bikaner bus stop is 2.6 kms away from the hotel. Request for pick & drop facility or hire a taxi to reach the hotel.
